An amazing half-hardy foliage plant that grows up to 150cm tall. Boehmeria nivea is a perennial shrub made up of mostly herbaceous material. On older plants the lower stems become woody and can reach a width of 2cm. The foliage has a wonderful leaf vein texture and striking serrated edges. The leaf underside is silvery-white and is velvety to the touch. Boehmeria nivea is widely cultivated in China for its incredibly strong fibres.
Homegrown by us from seed, here in the UK. Peat free & using organic methods.

Spring & Summer: Provide semi-shaded spot and give plenty of room to grow. Use a rich and moist potting mix. Water well in summer. Protect from slugs and snails.
Autumn & Winter: Cut back frost damaged stems and mulch the root zone in autumn.
