Commonly called the ‘tree tomato’, this giant will produce enormous leaves and egg sized fruits. Cyphomandra betacea is a fast growing plant that will reach heights of 1m in its first year grown from seed. The large green leaves can grow to be up to 30cm long! Usually in it’s second year, Cyphomandra betacea will produce small white flowers followed by red tamarillo fruits that hang in clusters from the thick branches.

SOWING TIPS:

Sow to a depth of 3mm. Sow in an unheated greenhouse in early spring to encourage natural germination. Use additional heat (18-24 degrees Celsius) and light to improve germination if sowing out of season.
