When the suns rays bring with them more warmth and the spring showers bring fresh new growth, it is a great time to get outside and have a look around the garden. Every detail gets me excited, from flower buds forming to those early unfurling leaves.
This tour of my small tropical style garden takes place at a transitional stage in my gardening year. For me, a gardener that grows a lot of tender plants, the time between the last frosts and those mild summer nights is a window of opportunity to move plants outside and acclimatise them to the British weather. The past winter was remarkably mild, with many of my exotic plants continuing to grow outdoors. This spring has also been beautifully mild with frequent rain showers, a perfect combination for growing big leafy tropical plants.
As we look around my tropical style garden you can see many exotic plants in pots as I play around with then design for this years planting. The garden is far from pristine, it is a real garden with very little available space. As such, any garden job seems to leave mess in the wrong places. With a little organisation and care I am just about managing to continue to grow my own garden and run the Grow Paradise plant nursery from my tiny mid-terrace garden. It’s small, but it is my patch of paradise. I hope you enjoy the tour.
