Enormous dinner plate sized leaves with a corrugated surface and serrated edges. This unusual foliage plant will certainly become the talking point of anyone visiting your garden. Boehmeria platyphylla is an amazing half-hardy foliage plant that grows up to 150cm tall on woody stems. This plant is sometimes referred to as a ‘false nettle’ because it is a stingless exotic relative of stinging nettles (Urtica dioica). Boehmeria platyphylla will produce insignificant flowers up the length of it’s stem from mid-summer through to autumn.

SOWING TIPS:

Surface sow the small seed. Sow in an unheated greenhouse in early spring to encourage natural germination. Use additional heat (18-24 degrees Celsius) and light to improve germination if sowing out of season.
