Fatsia polycarpa is a beautiful tropical looking shrub that originates from Taiwan. It can be pruned to grow as a multi-stemmed specimen or allowed to grow tall on a single stem.

When young, Fatsia polycarpa is susceptible to light damage from frosts. The newest leaves and shoots will likely be damaged but the plant will recover quickly in spring. As the plant matures it becomes much harder, Fatsia polycarpa is able to withstand temperatures down to -6ºC in the Grow Paradise Garden.

Though Fatsia polycarpa can tolerate more sun than most Fatsia species, it does still benefit from the provision of cool shade.

Spring & Summer: Cut back frost damaged shoots and leaves. Feed with high nitrogen fertiliser.
Autumn & Winter: Protect younger plants from severe cold. On mature plants only the youngest top growth will need protection from frosts.
