The Golden Indian Bean Tree, is a stunning specimen tree prized for its vibrant foliage and impressive blooms. Its beauty lies primarily in its large, heart-shaped leaves, which emerge bright golden-yellow in spring, gradually softening to a more chartreuse shade in summer. This vibrant foliage creates a dazzling display, adding a splash of sunshine to any garden. The tree's broad, spreading canopy provides welcome shade in the summer months. In addition to its foliage, Catalpa bignonioides 'Aurea' produces beautiful, trumpet-shaped flowers in early summer. These creamy white blooms, often marked with purple and yellow within, are borne in large panicles, adding another layer of visual interest and attracting pollinators like bees. The flowers are followed by long, slender seed pods, resembling bean pods, which persist into winter, adding further ornamental value.

A handsome rounded exotic evergreen shrub that originates in Madeira and the Canary Islands. One of my personal favourite evergreen shrubs, this Euphorbia looks lush and green the entire year. In early summer the shrub becomes covered in masses of tiny sweetly scented flowers that are long lived and provide interest long into summer. Pollinating insects also adore the masses of tiny nectar-rich blooms. Euphorbia mellifera is a must have structural plant for any exotic garden.

Dramatic deeply divided palmate leaves and a bushy exotic evergreen habit. Fatsia polycarpa ‘Green Fingers’ is a relatively new introduction to gardeners here in the U.K. Fatsia polycarpa originates from the shady hillsides of Taiwan where it was once a rare plant to find. Fatsia polycarpa ‘Green Fingers’ is a tough exotic shrub and should be hardy in most UK gardens, but it will benefit from a bit of shelter from the most severe cold. Well worth growing for it’s amazing deeply lobed foliage, giving this Fatsia a much more tropical look than the regular Fatsia japonica.
Fatsia polycarpa ‘Green Fingers’ is best grown in partial shade where it can reach heights of up to 2m. In late autumn and winter it produces Ivy-like flowers that provide valuable nectar for pollinating insects.
