The unassuming Saxifraga stolonifera is a delightful plant with intriguing silvery veined olive toned leaves with a reddish-purple underside. It is commonly known as the strawberry begonia. Saxifraga stolonifera is semi-hardy and is not often seen growing outside. Although dainty this plant has survived -5ºc in the Grow Paradise Nursery Garden. Take inspiration from its use as a house plant and place on the edge of pots and hanging baskets, for an abundance of foliage at eye level. Saxifraga stolonifera is a perennial that would be a perfect addition to a wide variety of planting schemes with its array of complimentary tones.

An eye-catching evergreen variegated plant that will produce clouds of orchid-like blooms in summer. Saxifraga stolonifera 'Tricolour' is a spreading perennial that produces masses of rounded hairy leaves with a broad pink to white margin. In mild gardens is will remain evergreen, providing a unique and colourful ground cover throughout the year. It can also be grown in a hanging basket or container, where it's spreading stolons and young offsets will hang down providing visual interest. In summer delicate flower stems are held 30cm high and are covered in flowers that resemble miniature white orchids. Solanum quitoense, commonly called the Naranjilla plant, is a fast-growing tomato-relative from the humid highlands of northwestern South America where it is prized for its sweet tasting fruit. In the UK climate it is usually grown for its very ornamental foliage. Each large leaf features distinctive purple veins that are covered with spikes of the same colour. Known as 'Spanish Moss, this is a rootless hanging epiphytic perennial that is widespread in the tropics and sub-tropics where it hangs from large trees. Tillandsia usneoides silvery branching stems can reach several metres long. These unusual plants uptake water that is trapped by the tiny silver hairs that cover the cylindrical leaves. Scented, tubular, yellow-green or pale blue flowers are produced in late spring or autumn. Try draping this plant over the larger shrubs and trees in your summer garden for an authentic jungle look. It's extremely easy to care for when grown both indoors and outdoors in summer.

A fast growing hardy tree with large foliage that is great for creating a tropical effect in UK gardens. Toona sinensis has wonderful fragrant leaves, creamy white flowers and foliage that turns fiery red in autumn. Commonly called the 'Chinese Mahogany', this tree can grow to 15m in height but tolerates hard pruning very well. Toona sinensis is best grown in rich soil in full sun. One of the best and most fragrant evergreen climbers for UK gardens. Star Jasmine, as this plant is commonly known, will produce masses of highly scented white star-shaped blooms all summer long. Trachelospermum jasminoides 'Star of Toscane' is a perfect plant for growing near seating areas as it will fill the air with its heady fragrance. Trachelospermum jasminoides 'Star of Toscane' grows very happily as a container plant trained to grow up a trellis or garden arch. A beautiful & hardy palm tree that thrives in the UK. Tracycarpus fortunei, sometimes called 'Trachys' for short, produce a thick hairy trunk topped with a tropical looking crown of glossy evergreen palm leaves. In summer Tracycarpus fortunei produces panicles of yellow blooms that hang from its crown and really add to the exotic look. Tracycarpus fortunei is native to parts of southern China and has the common name of 'Windmill palm'. These surprisingly fast growing young plants are a great affordable way to add palm trees to your garden.

An architectural hardy Yucca that has rightly become one of the most desirable drought tolerant plants for UK gardeners. Yucca rostrata is a striking plant species that is known as the 'Beaked Yucca' because its flowers are said to resemble the beak of a bird. Mature plants will produce a thick trunk topped with an almost spherical rosette of narrow blue-green leaves. The smooth leaves are spine-tipped and sway gently even in the slightest breeze. Mature Yucca rostrata plants will produce a 1.5m flowering stalk with creamy-white flowers in autumn. The flowers of this Yucca, as with other species, are adored by pollinating insects. Yucca Rostrata is native to the Chihuahuan desert of Northern Mexico.

This clump forming hardy perennial produces large glossy green leaves to 2m tall that are speckled with silvery-white markings on mature plants. Zantedeschia aethiopica 'White Giant' remains evergreen in mild parts of the UK, but may become semi-evergreen in colder winters. An easy and reliable plant with large jungle style foliage.
